Beware of anonymous calls: Police
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: City Police has cautioned the public from falling into trap of anonymous calls and text messages to avoid heavy and wrongful loss.
Some unknown people, introducing themselves as bank officials, are reportedly found tricking public to divulge their secret ATM codes, account numbers etc and withdrawing money from their accounts, informed City Police.
These unknown persons through social networking sites are collecting phone numbers from public and making phone calls and sending text messages to lure them with huge foreign gifts, parcels and monetary funds. They are also asking for fees for custom clearance etc and cheating lakhs of hard earned money from innocent citizens. It is also reported that groups of cheats offering Gold in low rates are duping huge amounts from innocent public, police informed.
City Police appealed to all to not share any confidential materials to strangers and use social networking sites with utmost care.
Org stages peace protest over MMS
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: All Tagin Youth Organization (ATYO) today staged a peaceful rally protesting against MMS clip purportedly made by ITBP jawan with a minor girl. Hundreds of people joined the protest rally which started from Rijo ground and concluded at Deputy Commissioner Office. Expressing strong resentment over the MMS clips which is doing the round in the district; ATYO urged the district administration to deal sternly with the accused. People from all walks of life joined the protest rally in demanding justice to the victim, a release added.

ADC dies
YINGKIONG, DEC 22: Gepak Poyom, ADC Yingkiong died on Monday morning after prolonged illness at Naharlagun.
Late Poyom was born on Feb 21 1957. He joined as a Circle Officer in the year 1981 and served the state in different capacities. He is survived by his wife, 5 daughters and two sons.
The officers and staff of office of the Deputy Commissioner, Upper Siang District, Yingkiong observed two minutes silence praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Pul assures better health facilities at Tezu
TEZU, DEC 22: Health Minister Kalikho Pul made an unannounced visit to the Bekhuliang and Tafragam Sub Health Centre along with local MLA Dr. Mohesh Chai and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Brij Mohan Mishra on December 20.
The main objective of the visit was to take stock of the infrastructure and their
physical conditions as both the Sub Centres have been up graded to Primary Health
Centre recently. Doctors and staffs have also been posted against both the Centres.

Natung makes surprise visit to schools
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: In a bid to ensure the government schools run smoothly in his constituency, the 11th Seppa West MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary Tourism Mama Natung made unannounced visit to government secondary school Bana and Govt. Residential School Nere on Saturday. Interacting with the students, faculty members and the local people of the schools, Natung took stock of the situation.
During the meeting teaching faculties and school management committee appraised the local MLA to address the shortage of teacher quarters and other infrastructure issues of the school. The shortage of the subject teachers in the said school was also raised by the concern public.
Responding to the verbal representation of the public and the teaching faculties, the Parliamentary Secretary assured to take up the matter with department. He also asserted that restoring quality education in the schools under his constituency would be a priority. Emphasizing the value of education, he also suggested the students to be punctual, dedicated and sincere in their studies.

Committee says no to transfer and posting
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: The Siang District Head Quarter Demand Committee (SDHDC) of Kaying and Payum circles have sought detainment of transfer and posting of Govt employees from and within the Siang District till the issue of choosing the headquarter is solved claiming that the govt employees serving in the district opposing Pangin as the headquarter are being subjected to punishment posting.
The committees have submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister in this regard.
BJYM demands action
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Alleging irregularity and corrupt practice in the construction of road from Khenewa to Nampe under PMGSY, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), Seppa unit in a reminder has demanded the Executive Engineer (EE), PWD Seppa Division not to release remaining amount without proper verification of the construction work.
The BJYM alleged that almost 80 percent of the fund has been withdrawn by the construction company/contractor without proper work. It claimed that the culverts, earth cutting were not done as per PMGSY guidelines while bridge is still in the state of incompletion.
Failing to take necessary action in this regard will compel the Morcha to launch democratic movement and bring the matter to the notice of the Chief Secretary and take legal recourse, the reminder said.
Infra, training facilities vital for dev. of sports: Saaya
ZIRO, Dec 22: Parliamentary Secretary (Sports and Youth Affairs) Likha Saaya stressed the need of infrastructure and training facilities to groom and hone sports talents in the state. He said this while inspecting the proposed site for outdoor stadium at Hapoli today.
Saaya felt that the proposed 4000 capacity stadium could be increased to 10,000 to cater to future needs as well. He said would not compromise on quality.
Earlier, he visited the construction site of the new police station and interacted with the police officials. He encouraged them to perform their duties with utmost sincerity for the betterment of the society.
During his visit to the police station, Saaya also inspected the jails and interacted with the prisoners, and advised them to learn from their past and try to start a dignified life afresh.
Later, he also visited Hari village, where he interacted with the Goan Buras and PRI members. He advocated to work as a unit by all brushing aside all petty political differences for development of the area.
He also visited Govt. Secondary School, Hari and interacted with the teachers and inspected the proposed site for construction on new girl hostel.

Relief material for fire victims
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Wangman Lowangcha, chairperson of Seva Samity, an NGO & PNGO NERCORMP, along with its team members visited the fire victims of Luthong village where they distributed essential items.
Lowangcha while distributing relief materials suggested the people of Luthong village to construct their dwelling houses in a minimum 10 mtrs distance from each other to avoid fire accident in the near future. He also requested the district authority and Govt to render relief materials to the fire affected village.

3 engineers assaulted, APESA seeks justice
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Three engineers were reportedly assaulted in the evening of Dec 17 at Koloriang and the RWD complex of Koloriang RWD subdivision was trespassed, the official quarter and vehicle (Gypsy) were vandalized. According to information received from the Arunachal Pradesh Service Engineer Association (APESA) an Assistant Engineer and two Junior Engineers were assaulted.
An FIR has been filed in this regard against two persons who have been identified.
APESA said that such act of vandalism has been noted by the engineering fraternity of the State with grave pain and concern. The members of APESA condemn the incident with the strongest term. In fact, such incident is condemnable from all quarters, the message added.

CM backs technological innovation for efficient governance
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki pitched for using technological innovation for effective and efficient governance. He shared this after a presentation by Geeks Network on Anoto Digital Pen based data collection technology in his conference hall this evening.
This technology is being implemented in Arunachal Pradesh for field monitoring of Community Horticulture Development project, supported by NABARD in Anjaw District and also in implementation of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana in the Service areas allotted to Arunachal Pradesh Cooperative Apex Bank Limited to ensure dissemination of Financial Literacy and speedy coverage of households in 575 villages covering about 29000 families for issuance of debit cards. The projects are being supported by NABARD and designed by Geeks Network Private Limited. Apex Bank will meet the target set under Jan Dhan Yojna in next three months using this technology which would have otherwise taken years.
This low cost Digital Pen while capturing data in the remote locations automatically indicates the GPS location and also transmits the data to the server. The pen captures low byte data making it easy to transmit data even in case of low internet connectivity. The server while evaluating the data sends message (error or acceptance) in real time so that the data collector can make amends on the spot. Further a low end version of this pen can also be used for competitive exams such as PSC, PMT etc.
The CM agreed to use this error free technology in the Planning Department to collect monitoring reports through 3rd Party Monitors. On evaluation of success of this technology, it will put to use in other areas of governance.

Book on ‘Archaeological Remains of Arunachal Pradesh’ released
ITANAGAR, Dec 22: Chief Minister Nabam Tuki today released the book titled 'Archaeological Remains of Arunachal Pradesh' here at his office in a simple function. The book published by Directorate of Research, Government of Arunachal Pradesh is authored by Dr Tage Tada.
Congratulating the Research department, especially its Director Dr. Tage Tada, Tuki expressed happiness that the department is active and has brought out explorations that would highlight the rich archaeological heritage of Arunachal Pradesh to the world. He appreciated the author for doing extensive research to make the book a final print.

Lauding the PPDLSA and AASA for organizing the workshop and establishing the website, Judge Habung said that giving aid to the needy and poor was a noble job that helps in extending access of justice, enshrined in article 39(A) of our constitution. The workshop was conducted for student leaders, youths, leaders and social activist by the Papum Pare District Legal Services Authority in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Legal Aid and Research Cell.
Giving a presentation on the website, APLARC team leader, Advocate Jumgam Jini said that today is the world of internet technology and we have to exploit it in a positive way to solve our legal problems. He urged the participants and stake holders to use the services and to spread awareness in this regard.
Saying that media is the best instrument to spread legal awareness among the masses, APSLA OSD Dani Belo informed that that a workshop with press and media would be held next Saturday for their support to disseminate the information on rights about the common man which they are unaware of.

Peeping back into the Tourism sector

The Arunachal Pradesh Tourism department witnessed hectic activities during the year
2014. Apart from promotional activities, the department has succeeded in its mission
to create self-
500 youths of the state have been imparted training on hospitality and tourism sector
under the employment generating schemes which was launched during August last year.
It is worth mentioning here that the Union Ministry had set a target of 500 youths
for Arunachal Pradesh to be trained during the financial year 2013-
Expressing satisfaction over the successful implementation of the scheme -
Citing the names of some of the trainees who are now working in reputed hotels in the state, Sonam further said that the longstanding issue of shortage of skilled staff has been overcome and the standard of service in the hotels in the Capital City of Arunachal has improved drastically with engagement of trained persons in hotel service.
Interestingly, during the visit of President of India at Itanagar in November last, the trained persons under Hunar Se Rojgar Tak were pressed into service.
It is worth mentioning here that buoyed by the overwhelming response from the unemployed youths, the Tourism department tightened its belt to train another 600 unemployed youths of the state during the year 2015 under this Centrally sponsored scheme. .
On the other hand, although Tezu topped the list of domestic tourist arrivals (including religious tourism), the scenic beauty makes Tawang the most preferred destination for domestic tourists. A total of 3775 domestic visitors arrived in Tawang during October this year. This was followed by arrival of 2869 tourists at Bomdila and 1080 tourists at Pasighat during the same month respectively. However, during February this year Pasighat received 1315 domestic tourists.
According to data made available to this daily, Pasighat (East Siang) had become a hot spot for foreign visitors this year. A total of 260 foreign visitors thronged Pasighat during October this year against the 54 foreign tourists who visited Tawang the same month. However, Yingkiong topped the list of foreign tourist arrival with over 600 tourists who visited Upper Siang till October last.

Despite the endeavour made by the tourism department to lure more tourists in the eastern most part of the country, the tourist arrival in Arunachal Pradesh is not remarkable in comparison to other states of the North Eastern region. Manipur remains the most preferred destination for foreign tourist and Arunachal Pradesh comes second.
Arunachal Pradesh, relatively the most peaceful state in north eastern region, should have a very effective policy and strategy to lure domestic as well foreign tourist round the year. Apart from infrastructure, Govt must give more emphasis on mass awareness on 'home stay', improved hospitality, behavioural changes towards foreign and domestic tourists. Unless people accept the tourism industry as a profitable venture, tourism department alone cannot do much.

Strengthened police force
Recently an officer of Raj Bhavan was reportedly threatened by a land encroacher after the officer lodged official complaint against the encroacher. This incident once again highlights how law abiding citizen are not safe in our state. The honest officer was only performing his duty. Civil society group Adi Baane Kebang has vehemently condemned the incident and appealed for security for all.
Despite tall claims by state government, the law and order situation in the state capital has not shown any major improvement. Police and district administration has failed to give sense of security to the capital denizens. Situation is so bad that most of the time people don’t report the matter to police as they have lost faith on legal justice system. Criminals easily walk out of jail after committing crime and later intimidate the victim. Weak policing has emboldened the criminals. The government of Arunachal should strengthened police force in capital region. Until policing is improved, situation will not change.

Increasing cataract cases
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, I would like to draw the kind attention of district medical authorities of Anini and various health NGOs and National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) to look into the pitiable condition of the people of Anini. Due to absence of proper medical facilities, they are losing their eyesight. Specially, I would like to request District Medical Officer (DMO) to kindly initiate health campaign camp at Anini in collaboration with NPCB to reduce eyesight problems faced by the people. Nowadays Cataract problems are common among senior citizen. Anini, one of the remote districts of Arunachal Pradesh and the patients mostly belong to poor families who cannot afford to go outside the district for treatment.
I really hope that District Medical Officer will initiate some measure to overcome this problem and do well for the people of Anini.

Don’t snub the voters
Dear Editor,
One of the news items splashed across your esteem daily ''5 PPA legislators join congress ''left people aghast. Sitting in the opposition and taking up development processes across state and their constituency should have been their priority instead of greed for power and forgetting their biggest responsibility. Such acts kill the faith of people especially the innocent voters who loved to have different political party other than Congress. If they had to choose Congress, they would have chosen the Congress candidates during the elections but they didn't because they wanted change in their areas and paramount was to have a different political party. But keeping aside all these burdens, our beloved leaders are ferrying from one party to other party only for their vested interest and luxurious life. All sentiments and expectations of common voters have been fanatically murdering. This is really a creepy exodus on the part of our legislators.
Being a denizen of the state and development loving person, I would like to request all political leaders not to flaunt benefit and they should stand by their promises, be bold and never ever snub your well wishers.

Dear Editor,
Anguished, I would like to inform the concern authorities of Education Department, Govt of Arunachal Pradesh that the teachers employed in SSA scheme are facing tough time and on the verge of starvation because of non disbursement of salary since the last four months.
Everyone knows that very auspicious occasions like Christmas and Happy New Year are coming soon, but still we don't have any discussion regarding these gracious occasions due to the reluctant attitude of concern authorities in spite our dedication and accountability in teaching profession by serving in very remote and inaccessible areas in the state.
Therefore, we earnestly appeal to the concern authorities to release our heard earned salary before 25th of this month so that we can feel that we are in government job.
Besides we strongly request our dynamic Education Minister to continue the regularization process of SSA teachers.

Do not put the burden of your lifestyle on the citizens
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to share my personal opinions about one key issue plaguing Arunachal, out of the many, at the moment. I am not sure whether this letter will be published but I request you to give it a thought as everyone is entitled to have his say in a working democracy as ours.
For the last 1-
I wonder how come the money in the state coffins get depleted so easily. I see no development in the state except the one's funded directly by the central government.
On second thoughts, we see a plenty of sparkling new SUVs, palatial mansions being built across the state. The political class and the senior bureaucrats are failing this state. They must not and cannot put the burden of their lifestyle on the people of the state, more so on the government employees who depend solely on their salaries.
These people toil hard, do over-
The families of bureaucrats and politicians are growing richer day after day. They are buying property across India, especially in Delhi, their kids are living a luxurious life in the metros and they say our state has no money. Is the money in our state coffers meant to be used for these politicians and their spoilt brats who are adding nothing good to the state or to those who are toiling hard in the offices to make ends meet?
True, one or two of the MLAs may be honest. But every Arunachali knows that these politicians and senior officers are nothing but a bunch of selfish, corrupt people.
A note for students of AP, we have seen you protesting many things on the call of your leaders. It is my humble request to stage a state wide peaceful dharna on this issue and against rampant corruption in the state which is not hidden from anyone. The so called student leaders may not take an initiative in this regard, but remember, they will go on to become politicians or big contractors and the common students would be the govt. employees. You must fight for your rights from this moment onwards.

Through your esteemed daily, I on behalf of Panchayati Raj, 12 Banderdewa ZPM segment, would like to draw the kind attention of Honourable CM, regarding the establishment of SPTI (Software Technology Park of India ) in our state. It is also learnt that the matter has been pending since 2003 due to unavailability of land or land donor.
Therefore, the public, NGOs and Panchayat members of Banderdewa and Karishinga would like to donate land free of cost, approximately one lakh square meters at Karsinga.
We have decided to donate land unconditionally to the government for the development of our state capital area. Besides, Banderdewa and Karsingsa are located at entry point of our state capital, where good numbers of tourist, domestic as well as foreigner, pass whenever they visit.
